Entropia Universe is a virtual universe with a real cash economy. It was launched in 2003 and has over 615,000 registered accounts. The company has been profitable since 2004. MindArk offers the Entropia Universe software to users free of charge with no monthly costs or associated subscription fees.

Announced July 25, 2007, Entropia Universe signed a license agreement to use the high-tech game engine CryENGINE 2 from Crytek. This will increase the realism of the massively multiplayer online game. The transition to an Entropia Universe platform built around this new technology is expected to be finished by mid-2008, and will be available to all Entropia Universe partners.
