Its subsidiaries and affiliates are involved in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, as well as energy management and other energy-related services. On July 11, 2007, FirstEnergy's unregulated subsidiary, FirstEnergy Solutions, announced that it has redesigned its website -- http://www.fes.com -- to help users stay informed about energy issues that may affect their businesses. The comprehensive redesign, which features a new user-friendly interface, added more than 100 pages of content, including information on residential energy efficiency, green power, an extensive energy glossary and industry white papers on a variety of energy-related topics. In addition, a special section highlights current promotions offered by the company.
On July 25, 2007, FirstEnergy announced that the Perry Nuclear Power Plant has returned to service following a maintenance outage to replace a motor in the Reactor Recirculation System.
