Electric guitarist Joe Satriani is playing his album, Surfing with the Alien, in its entirety on several dates.

Surfing with the Alien was the album that ignited Joe Satriani's career as a solo performer. The acclaimed guitarist's second full-length release, Surfing with the Alien, was originally issued in October 1987 on Relativity Records. It was the first rock guitar instrumental album to reach Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart, selling over one million copies in the United States.

Epic/Legacy Recordings recently released the twentieth anniversary edition of the album in a newly expanded version. This restored two-disc set includes the newly re-mastered album and a live show filmed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1988. It features new liner notes written by the muscian and packaging featuring photos, notes, and other memorabilia from Joe's personal archive.
