Announced September 13, 2007, Karen Ross hopes to bring a touch of western elegance to people from Newport Beach to New England with her Colorado-based Prairie Karen jewelry and accessory line: silver and leather pieces, beaded bracelets and purses, and hair accessories.
Ross' love of western culture and jewelry dates back to her childhood spent working and playing on an expansive Texas ranch owned by her father, founder of Houston's prominent Becker's Jewelers.
The Prairie Karen line features high quality all hand-made pieces and one-of-a-kind items, including hard-to-find braided rawhide bracelets, created by mostly American designers located in Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Idaho and California.
Many items, like Ross's 100% silk scarves, are as functional as they are stylish. "It'll keep you warm while horseback riding out on the prairie, and looks great with a Cartier watch," Ross said.
"As a fashion statement, the Prairie Karen line speaks to anyone who has ever ridden a horse and the millions who have ever wished they lived on a ranch," she said. "Many people who have never traveled west of Chicago still feel the romantic allure of the West they first experienced during a Saturday afternoon matinee."
