Announced August 13, 2007, ACM SIGGRAPH will mark its entry into Asia with SIGGRAPH Asia 2008, to be held in Singapore from December 10-13, 2008. At the event, experts from Asia and beyond will offer content from the forefront of computer graphics theory and practice.
In the past few years, the percentage of research papers from Asia has more than doubled, according to the SIGGRAPH Papers Program. In 2005, Asian research papers constituted seventen percent of the total number of research papers. SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 will feature a wide spectrum of anchor programs designed to appeal to academics, professionals, artists, animators and students.
The conference and exhibition will feature high-quality and original research papers, a computer animation festival and hands-on courses and tutorials in the latest computer graphics techniques. Other highlights include a digital art gallery, an educators' program, a trade exhibition and a career fair.
On August 3, 2007, the ACM SIGGRAPH Executive Committee approved Yokohama, Japan as the location for SIGGRAPH Asia 2009.
