Dave Gorak has been executive director of the Midwest Coalition to Reduce Immigration since 2001. A Chicago native, he spent nearly 30 years as a reporter and editor in that city working for the Chicago Daily News and Crain's Chicago Business. He was part of the editorial team assembled to create Crain's in 1978. He has helped carry the immigration restriction message through columns, letters to the editor and on national radio and television, including the "O'Reilly Factor" and "Chicago Tonight" on Channel 11. I have never spoken on "immigrant integration." My participation in the Sun-Time's July 28 "immigration roundtable" focused on the need to enforce our immigration laws and punishment of those businesses that hire illegal aliens. My organization supports the idea of Attrition Through Enforcement, i.e., turning off the jobs magnet so illegal workers will voluntarily leave this country after seeing there is no economic future for them here.
